| "The American is the best dressed one here!" Besides all of the other differences I'll be sure to talk about in a post (I promise a school post is coming soon), one of the most surprising aspects of the middle school I am teaching at is how relaxed the dress code for teachers is. The students all wear a school logo polo and black shorts with tennis shoes every day, yet the teachers do not seem to have a strict dress code, as is often considered in the States. There seem to be no rules about having your shoulders covered; no rules about how short your shorts can be. In fact, a school polo and gym (athletic) shorts are a common outfit, along with jeans and tank tops. Unfortunately, I won't be that creep who takes pictures of other staff members to show you, so I give you two weeks of my school outfits. Believe it or not, I am often complimented on how I am making everyone else "look bad" by the outfits I wear. People are impressed. Also, let us appreciate the fact that the dress code expectations here are the way that they are because how does one even dress professionally for 95 degree weather?! |
